Nerf Rapid Fire 20 Review

The Nerf Rapid Fire 20 is incredibly fun to play with thanks to its immensely satisfying Gatling gun action. Just load the Rapid Fire with 20 darts, prime it (20 pumps), and fire all 20 rounds in less than 3 seconds.

One of the cool features of the Rapid Fire 20 is that you can toggle between automatic and single fire modes. In single fire mode you can either fire the shots off one at a time with individual trigger presses, or hold the trigger down for a slower version of the automatic mode (it’ll take you about 11-12 seconds to unload all 20 rounds).

The Nerf Rapid Fire 20 has a range of about 20 feet (I’m sensing a recurring theme), which might sound low, but it keeps the gun from being overpowered compared to other Nerf guns. Balance is important, after all, and it’s easy to forgive the range when you can blast off 20 darts in 3 seconds. That’s just awesome.

Of course, one of the big pains when you have a gun that blows through rounds like the Nerf Rapid Fire 20 does is that you’re going to spend a lot of time gathering your darts, reloading and priming. This is not unique to this Nerf gun, though. Other rapid fire blasters like the Vulcan and Raider face the same problem, but in my opinion, having to reload frequently is a fine tradeoff.

The priming pump on the Rapid Fire is prone to breaking if you aren’t careful. As with all pump guns, slow steady pumps are best. Erratic pumps (as younger kids are prone to do) will wear out and possibly break the pump. Just be careful and your Rapid Fire will have a long life.

If you’re looking for a unique Nerf gun that will make your friends run for cover and hide (for at least 3 seconds), you’ll have a lot of fun with the Rapid Fire 20.

This gun isn’t bad at all. It fire 20 darts in 3-4 secs. (wich is INCREDIBLE!) and you can definetly feel the dart when it hits you. (from personal experience: it will hurt A LOT if you hit someone in the face with it) The only downside is that it takes about five minutes or more to put all the darts back in the barrel and then pump it. But it is really awesome though. Buy it!

I like the idea for the Rapid Fire 20 ALOT. The only thing I don’t like is the fact that this gun has a pump. Although many people have told me that you can’t get as high a range or rate of fire with spring loaded guns, The pump idea has always come across as impractical-to me. You on the other hand, might have very different opinions. For future reference, I am not saying I don’t like guns that have a pump in them. Guns such as the Magstrike, Titan, Hornet and Secret Strike are all great guns. I don’t like the pump IDEA.

this gun can be fire if pump 30-35 times and hard pumping.the only thing is that it doesn’t stick well to stickable surface.

I agree about the gun breaking..Its already broken..We heard a pop after the 10th pump on an empty tank..I think it blew a seal inside somewhere..I’m going to take it back…Cool concept though..Can you get repair parts or anything??

The gum WAS awesome but this gun broke after the 5th time using it ….. I heard a loud POP after the 25th pump then it stopped working …. how can i repair it ?? or must i contact Hasbro . I still have the box

I like this gun, but like you said you need to be careful with the pump. Feels like it could break off if you went at it too hard.

Ya I got one and it came broken, wouldn’t fire, so I returned it, got a new one, and it worked about twice then it wouldn’t fire again. I let it sit for a while and came back to it a couple days later and it worked again for one more round of bullets but broke again. I never heard a pop though which is the only difference from everyone else. I’ve had a working one before and it’s AMAZING!!!!! if i had to rate it on a 1-10 scale here’s how i would: Rate of fire-10 distance-6 reload time-3(takes forever) reliability-4.5 (breaks frequently apparently) accuracy-7 overall and considering reliability, I give it a 7, but when if you have one that definitely works, I rate it 8.5, it’s awesome!

This was the sixth addition to my nerf arsenal, and I love it. I got the N-Strike version off eBay for £42.45.

    Appearance:
IMHO, this looks pretty cool, especially while it’s firing because you can see the plunger moving. The yellow/black/orange colour scheme is great, and it is mostly black so it looks almost like a real gun from a distance.

    Performance:
The ranges in single and rapid firing modes did not vary really, most landed at around 30-35ft PTG. At an angle, however, I’d say I was getting ranges more like 45-50ft. Its rate of fire is exceptionally good (8 darts per second); I believe it is the fastest firing nerf gun ever made!

    Features:
The main selling point of the gun is that it has two firing modes-single and rapid. The single fire mode basically slows down the firing mechanism, thus making it easier to take single shots. However single fire is still faster than a stampede or vulcan.

    Value for money:
    Worth every penny.

    Pros and Cons:
    Pros:
    Excellent rate of fire
    Good range
    Looks pretty cool
    Not too bright-coloured
Pump-up gun, so no need to prime in the middle of a war
Ammo lasts a while in single shot
    Quite accurate
    Cons:
    Slow reload
    Pumping takes time
Ammo doesn’t last very long in rapid fire mode
Pumping takes quite a bit of effort

    Conclusion:

Overall, this is a great gun for ambushes…

It must be different for you guys. Im in Australia and my gun has a vent if you over pump it.

I havent got much bad stuff to say about it so ill give it a 8/10

HOLY FRIKKIN HECK DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!! this gun is AWESOMER THAN HECK!!!!! FRIKKIN COOL!!!!! it’s got a rate of fire like none other, ammo capacity like no other fully-automatic gun (besides the vulcan and IF you consider the raider fully automatic, raider, although it’s rapid-fire not auto, considering the fact that you have to cock each time a round goes off), 2 modes of fire (single and rapid, only small difference i the two though), and i know i mentioned rate of fire, but DUDE, it’s like, 10 DPS!!!!! (for the noobs: DPS means Darts per Second). Rotating barrel which in my opinion is AWESOME considering it makes it like a gatling gun (also called minigun, chaingun, deathmachine). The range isn’t great, but is a gatling gun’s range great?? I personally have no idea but it probably isn’t. Then the accuracy. Sure, it’s accurate, not like you’re gonna miss a target if you shoot 10 darts at their face in one second. then, there’s the one major downside that makes this gun VERY unreliable. Once your incredibly-fast-rate-of-fire-20-dart-capacity-awesome-gun runs out of ammo, good luck finding your ammo. I still have all my ammo, but i’ve only had this gun since yesterday. Then once you DO find your ammo, if you’re not dead, find a very secret secluded spot away from war to reload and pump like heck (pumping is a pain in the ASS. that’s why i use this gun as ABSOLUTE EMERGENCY like if i’m ambushing or being ambushed, or my primary and secondary fail). Then, i suggest that you switch to single fire to prevent ammo depletion in 2 seconds and more like 5 or 10 seconds to save ammo, and go out like a drug-crazed nazi killing everyone in sight. Happy Nerfing!!!!
